- My first musical instrument was a synthesizer, that is if one
excludes a small wooden box metalophone.
- Right on the first day exploring the synth (a korg MS20) i was
thrilled knowing that i could input and process an external signal. I still remember
grabbing a cassette by Klaus Schulze, Moondawn, in fact; i started filtering the sound
that went from the tape-deck to the MS20 (sort of like a DJ, making his living
with someone else's music, right?)
- Nothing worth talking about came out of it, but still, that moment of
the first electronic experiment was also the first time i lost the instructions manual out
of sight.
- That moment precisely defines my composing method: NO manual.

- I'm proud of having produced the first independently released CD in
portugal, and doing it with the artist in a tiny studio in a small portuguese town. No
booth, no auto-locators, smpte, nothing... not even air conditioning!
- I remember the vocals were recorded with a Shure SM58 that didn't have
the grilled protective ball.
- Every sound less than 3 inches from the mic would make explosive
sounds that would submerge even the most dynamic kick. Solution: vocals were recorded with
the singer holding a protective cloth (from the type we find in hi-fi speakers) in front
of him.
- No one could spot the singers face but the vocals were recorded.
- The CD was released as the #1 CD, ever, in Portugal.
- It'll always be.

I started infinite-e back in 1993. Having
met the singer Alexandrina while she was recording with a folk band. The voice was perfect
for my prospective band.
- Something between...
...medieval and techno
- Jingles were the test. Later in that year we made a first EP. «Nostalgia».
- We gave nearly 500 copies at local radio-stations in
Portugal. Traveled 3000 miles without ever crossing the border just for the EP's
promotion.
- Talk about promotion!

- We achieved airplay all over the country, and of course,
concerts were showing up.
- The next year a CD: Alexandrina's Teknodance Logiktrance.
- Major hit. 9 eurodance songs in english, one in arab!
- Concerts all around.
- Then, in 1996 the first label interested in our music. A
small backyard label releases the first infinite-e CD, featuring Alexandrina. You can find the
cover for that album in this site!
- That was «Grab Me» and there's even a bootleg EP that
features an heavily bashed ARP Odyssey !

- Cinema.
- Personal favourites:

- Then comes photography. A bunch of
Canon cameras, a collection of lenses, a 6x6 Voigtlander IIIe... and i'm done.
- Sold some photos to lisbon newspapers, working as a freelancer, and
then...

- i learned to comprehend it @ IADE, with Roberto Lestinge.
- It made definite changes in me, even musically.
- I can't make a record without including picture-dependent
themes.
- A lot of my music needs image in order to be clearly
understood.
- Even the videos i produce are sort of a remastering of my
own music.
- Therefore, sinthesizers and videocameras are tools for one
single artform.
